Tom B - Thank you again - My 3rd Hub is now also working (with my Uverse Firewall set the way I want it - OFF - in what AT&T calls "DMZplus mode").

If any other Uverse users in the Southeast USA are "tuned in" here and having weird network problems - you are not alone! - AT&T's Uverse network has been screwed up for the last couple days due to a botched upgrade and their forums are abuzz with angry folks with various problems.

I'm no expert in IP protocols, but the MTU being knocked down to 576 seems to be one of the things playing havoc with VPNs. Here's one simple post about it -

http://forums.att.com/t5/U-verse-Commun ... -p/3412471

I'm not sure if that's why a UDP-type tunnel now won't work to my two Hubs, but whatever else may be causing it, happened at the same time as the MTU drop.

That unit has been up and running. Perhaps it's back in the US.

Tom B,

It seems like AT&T has finally unwound their week-long network screw-up in my area.

I just looked at my Uverse RG's Broadband/Status and it is back to reporting an MTU of 1500. When my Ooma UDP VPN tunnels didn't work, it reported an MTU of 576. I also just did some Ping tests and the MTU really is 1500.

So, I assume my Ooma Hubs may now work without needing the special type of tunnel you configured for all 3 of my Hubs, so you can reconfigure me back to normal. Let me know when you do it and I'll do some test calls.

BTW, is the voice delay different for different types of tunnels? I had noticeable delay on calls today, so I measured it using the Audacity-909-390-0003 method and saw 630ms. I recall measuring it before around 400ms.

Thanks again,
Bill

Ok, all 3 units are back on UDP tunnels.

If you wouldn't mind, can you move mine back as well? I can test here and will report back once the change is made.

Thanks again!

Tom B,

Both my FL Hubs are working again after briefly stopping. I assume my CA Hub is still happy but I'm 3000 miles away.

I measured my voice delay again and saw that it now dropped to 570ms from 630ms. Is that drop related to the tunnel type?

Bill

ESPFL,

It's a small consolation for what you, me and many others suffered through last week with the massive AT&T network problems, but if you call 800-288-2020 and press 0 to talk to an agent, they're authorized to give a $20 credit on your Uverse bill.
