Alert for when ooma offline

Post by SantaCruzJoe » Sun Aug 21, 2016 2:15 pm

I have an ooma telo connected via wifi to my home network. Periodically it will go offline requiring me to cycle power to the unit, but unless I happen to walk by and look at it I don't notice when it is offline and as a result, I may miss calls. Is there a way to set up ooma to email or text my cell when my ooma goes offline so that I will know to address it?

If not, that would be a very useful feature for me.

I assume your telo is blinking red when this happens? How many red blinks before it pauses? 1, 2, or 3 ?

I don't know how many blinks. My point was I'd like to be notified on my cell phone when my ooma is offline so I can address it.

I suddenly started seeing the same thing at home in the past few days. I see a flurry of complaints about this behavior on the forums for Telo 1s, since the recent decomissioning of the Ooma Hub. I strongly suspect that Ooma broke something server-side in the process that is affecting us too.

My Ooma Hub is still working just fine and so is my Telo 1.

You can tell Ooma to call an alternate number (such as a cellphone) when the Telo is unreachable.

I'd also like to get an email alert. My network camera will when it's offline, once it ended up my cable co. network connection was temporarily down. I still got the email (to my phone) because the camera's web service sensed the camera was offline and sent the email. Maybe Ooma could do the same.
