New HD3 handset says "charging" but stays at 50%

My solution was to buy Amazon Basics batteries and replace the OEMs. However I still had a recurrence of the 50% thing just a few days ago. So I wonder if it's a fundamental flaw(design or manufacturing) in the contact points.

Have been an Ooma customer for about a dozen years now. Have had the first gen handset and also a pair of HD3s. This has been an ongoing problem since day one with no end in sight.
My set of HD3s I finally gave up on and sold them on eBay. Still using a 15 year old Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless with 3 handsets. Still works like a charm and on only the second set of batteries.
If I had assurance that this matter was resolved I would try an HD3 again but until then, no way.

Did you ever try taking batteries to a battery store to test? I got the 3 phones just because I did not have a cordless phone.
