internet speed with DSL

Post by tflorin » Tue May 06, 2008 4:14 pm

I just finished installing ooma and the phone works great. I connected with a DSL and removed all of the filters. My internet speed became terrible. I went from about 5 mps to 220 kps. I have tested at three different sites with nearly identicle download speeds. My upload speed remains excellent.

Can you confirm the statements below?

- You have DSL high-speed Internet
- You have landline phone service
- Your DSL and landline phone service are delivered on the same phone jack
- You are using your ooma system with your landline

If you used to have a filter connected between your DSL modem and the phone jack, try reconnecting it between the DSL modem and the ooma phone splitter.

Also, do you plan to install a Scout?

All of the above is correct. There is no filter in the system anymore. I have a scout installed which is functioning well

If you still have the DSL filters that you removed when you installed your ooma system, could you try reconnecting the one that used to be connected to your DSL modem? Try to insert the filter between the DSL modem and the ooma splitter that should be plugged into the wall.

Great to hear. I have fixed a typo in my previous response so that other people reading the thread don't get confused. You must have figured out what I meant. :)
