No sound from base

My Telo base no longer has sound. I cannot listen to voicemail messages on the base though I'm still able to do it on website or with the phone app. Both inbound and outbound phone calls working fine. I've rebooted (powered down) several times but no change. It's been like this for at least a month or so. I recall that prior to the sound going out completely, while listening playing voicemails on the base the audio would start and stop with long pauses in between and then just stop before the end.

I'm on software version 438661.

Have you tried adjusting the volume control. One of the level positions is off.

murphy, Yes I did try to turn the volume up. I also entered a chat session with an Ooma support person last night who remotely turned the volume all the way up but still no sound.

Found this thread from a few years back about an update that caused a lot of Telos to go silent. Possible that the same mistake was made in a more recent update?

The sound died in my 3 year old Telo 2. It still works fine in my 10 year old Telo 1. I opened the case and connected a different speaker. It works fine. I measured the resistance of the coil in the dead speaker. It is supposed to be 8 ohms. It is now infinity. The coil burned out.

Looks like the Telo 2 got cost reduced a little bit too much.

I'm having the same issue as others in this thread. As I recall, it was working fine a few days ago but suddenly my Telo base no longer has sound. I cannot listen to voicemail messages on the base though I'm still able to do it on website. In and Out phone calls seem to be working fine. I've rebooted several times but no change despite leaving it unpowered for over an hour.

I'm on software version 438661.

The speaker in my Telo 2 hasn't worked for years. But it's not an issue for me as I have numerous HD3 handsets and an HD2. I simply enable the speaker in the handsets by choosing "home security" from the menu and then choose "handset announce: yes". Now, all the handsets throughout the house make announcements that would have also been heard on the Telo speaker if it worked. The only problem is that the announcements always are heard at full volume despite the setting in the handset menu.
