Auto Calling
Hi all,
I have just noticed through checking my dashboard that my Ooma is calling a fax number on it's own. Sometimes when I can see the phone it will light up without me touching it and when i do pick up the receiver I get the fax tone and this is happening about a dozen times a day. I looked into my setup about faxing and noticed that "Enable Premiere Fax" was enabled so I unchecked that but it is still calling the same number which is 800-531-5602 and this may be something to do with Ooma but it's calling every few hours.
regards,
Doug.

Re: Auto Calling
That appears to be a Direct TV number. Do you have a Direct TV box?

Yes I do but never call it and this is a fax number. I wonder why Ooma is contacting Directv. Some sort of tryst
Re: Auto Calling
Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Any ideas how to stop Ooma calling that particular number?
Thank you, Doug.

Re: Auto Calling
Unplug the phone line from your Direct TV box. Ooma has no capability to place calls on its own.

Re: Auto Calling
That is not a fax tone...it's a dial up modem tone. Fax is more raspy.
And I do remember how the dial up modem tone sounded..I had dial up with my first Epson Computer....real fast at 150 baud.
