How can one "deregister" or "release" an Ooma device, prior to selling it?

Got something else to discuss that is not covered by the previous forums? Post it here!

How can one "deregister" or "release" an Ooma device, prior to selling it?

I'd like to gift or sell an unused Ooma Tello.
How can I "deactivate" it so it can be activated by someone else?

I see https://www.ooma.com/legal/rates/
And https://support.ooma.com/home/reactivat ... ma-device/

And this old thread viewtopic.php?t=16781
At which point it was "Reactivation/new service fee $9.99"

What's the process in 2023?
Is it possible to deregister the device prior to gifting it, so it's ready to go on the other end?

I found it's possible, but you have to call:

OOMA: They need to call our higher technical support in order to reactivate the device and switch it to their name.
OOMA: Their telephone number is 888-711-6662 (US) / 866-929-6662 (CANADA) Weekdays 5am-5pm PST Weekends 8am-5pm PST.

The seller or the buyer can call. The seller can release the device. But the buyer may have to call anyway and provide an email address. There was no fee charged, but all warranties on the original unit are rendered void.
