New devices
I see an ad (email) about the "Telo Upgrade". Is there any difference between this and my 10 year old 110-0110-253 "Ooma Telo"? (other than it has fewer buttons). I was about to buy new wireless phones (VTech), but thought maybe spending $49 on the new base unit would be a better upgrade. Is there a comparison chart somewhere? We have all sorts of issues having calls connect with the old unit and old Panasonic phones.
Re: New devices
According to this post, the Telo 2 has a faster processor and more RAM. Some accessories are not compatible with the different Telo Base stations. The Telo 2 no longer has a WALL port, for use with a landline backup. This is not necessarily a complete list, but it should cover (most of?) the major differences.
Re: New devices
I just ordered the latest. Do I just unplug the old and plug in the new one?
Re: New devices
Active and working. Receiving the HD3 Handsets tomorrow.
How are contacts handled in the new handsets? Is there a way to add them directly from the contacts list from the Ooma portal online? Or is it like my Panasonic phones, you enter them one at a time? Be nice to have a speed dial list online that you just assign there.
Everything works. Is it worth hooking up directly to a PC to configure? (Or check settings)
Edit: Linx (Line2) is not working, just giving busy signal. Got it going. Had to pair from new Telo (Page button rear for 3 seconds). Took forever to turn blue (15 minutes), but now has a dial tone.

Re: New devices
The HD3 "Phonebook" syncs up with the 'My Ooma' "Contacts", and the HD3 "Favorites" is programmable, for speed dialing.
Ooma offers an optional setup app for the Telo Air 2. However, it may be worthwhile to temporarily hook up a PC to the HOME port, to set a password, or allow remote administration in the future.

Re: New devices
Thank you. I have 120 contacts in "my Ooma" on desktop. I have 1000 Google contacts on my Pixel phone. When you sync contacts in the Android Ooma app, does it just sync Ooma contacts (what I want), or all my phone contacts? I don't want 1000 contacts synced.
Re: New devices
The documentation doesn't mention anything about syncing contacts. The app can "access your phone's contact list" to make a call, and it can upload contacts "from your cell phone ... to my.ooma.com". Users can export contacts from their 'My Ooma' account, but they can't use the Ooma app to import the contacts.
Re: New devices
Kind of what I assumed. I think I'll just remove the app. It would be nice just to have my Ooma contacts in the app, so it mirrors the HD handsets. It would be an easy way to edit my Ooma contacts, not having to mess with a browser version.
Re: New devices
The 'My Ooma' contacts need to be on the Ooma servers, to support Caller-Id and Call Blocking. Cell phones have their own list of contacts, which users might want to access from the Ooma app. Syncing or merging the two contact lists can get messy. That could explain why the Ooma app offers a more manual upload instead.
