Question about the 3-4 week "wait period" until Porting

Post by plasmo » Sat Dec 27, 2008 8:26 pm

I just installed my ooma device, and things are up and running.

I am planning on Porting my # over, but for those who have already done this:

If I place a out-of-state phone call during this 3-4 week period prior to porting, will I get billed for this (from my old telephone provider - Comcast)... or is this phone call "free"? (YES I DO hear the ooma dialtone prior to making the call)

THANKS in advance!

i assume you have a new phone number that you selected from the ooma install process.

domestic calls made from that number will be free as long as you are accessing the line with the ooma dialtone.
Thanks,

No, I chose the "keep same number" option by using both ooma and old system at the same time-
I don't have a new number.

I'm setup the same as you are. I am using my "old number" right now (i.e. no one can call me with my ooma system via incoming calls until the port is complete) - but any outgoing calls I make (just listen for the ooma dial tone) are free domestically.
