JMC1981 asked if anyone on this forum found satellite internet compatible with Ooma. I can't say, but I have wireless internet provided by a tower that is 5 miles away. Most of the time, my hub works fine. But on some calls I can hear the echo of my voice, and I can tell by the responses of the caller that there is a delay in their reception of my side of the conversation.

woodbutcher,

Do a VoIP quality test: http://www.phonepower.com/speedtest

Check the "Advanced" tab

Packet loss should be 0.
Download and upload QOS should be at least 70%.
Maximum TCP delay should be under 100 ms.
You may not like what you see with your internet....probably large jitter and long TCP delay.

Can someone check out what these numbers would look like with Telo Air (Wifi dongle)?

After ~24 hours from reboot:

RX Bytes
TX Bytes

Check the weather outside when you are having problems. If it's raining, snowing, low overcastm fog or higher wind conditions where a lot of dirt/dust is carried in the air; these are the times that most people have problems when using Wireless communications of some distance away.

Thansk murphy.

I am Modem/Router/Ooma. Seems like my wifi dongle Rx, Tx read about the same.

1 hr wifi

RX Bytes 10909847 (10.4 MiB)
TX Bytes 611468 (597.1 KiB)

2 hr wifi

RX Bytes 22917607 (21.8 MiB)
TX Bytes 997114 (973.7 KiB)

But the Rx seems to be a lot higher with wifi than ethernet....probably mostly communication with router vs Ooma central?

1 hr ethernet

RX Bytes 525445 (513.1 KiB)
TX Bytes 494505 (482.9 KiB)

2 hr ethernet

RX Bytes 1116151 (1.0 MiB)
TX Bytes 857349 (837.2 KiB)

I can't explain an apparent 20 to 1 difference.
I would not expect the USB protocol to add that much data although it is a synchronous protocol and the clocking runs all of the time whether there is any data to move or not.
