Of course you can but do you have a contract?
Are you ready to give out a new number to all your friends and family?
Also, if you are using DSL for your ISP you cannot until you get your DSL line "dry looped"
Give us more information about you current setup and we can advise

I have cable internet provided through Time Warner. I am ready to provide my new number to my family and friends. I am not porting my old number through my landline provider. I am not sure about the contract question. Do you mean a contract with ooma or my landline provider (verizon)? I have only installed my ooma last night. I have a 60 day free trial of the Priemer and am planning on paying for a year in advance ($99) to extend this service. Other than that, there is no contract I am aware of.
thanks fo your quick response.

By all means you can cancel your Verizon service. It would be as if you were moving to another state or a non-Verizon area. The only gotcha (what others meant by contract) was if you were receiving special pricing from Verizon that required you to make a contract with them. In my case, I use Qwest for both my voice and DSL. I had to agree to a contract with them to get a great price on my DSL. But if I had only voice, I could tell them to disconnect and walk away. As you can. Since most telco's charge for the month in advance, you may even get a refund. Of course, it is always best to call the telco and make sure there are no surpirses.

Welcome to the ooma family! Make sure to visit the forum often and don't forget to spend that refund in a fun way!
