Any way to make *98 permanent???
Re: Any way to make *98 permanent???
Please put this in the documentation or at least the FAQ. I wasted over an hour discovering and fixing this, although we've had no call quality issues in Alarm Mode, only "needed" alarm mode so I could have a standard dialtone which we prefer. Also note that in Alarm mode your touch tones won't be detected when navigating Ooma voicemail (see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15427). And be aware that G.711 takes up a lot more bandwidth which may impair voice quality due to jitter and packet loss.
Re: Any way to make *98 permanent???
For regular dialtone you can just set fax mode. I'll ask product marketing about documenting the alarm mode caveat.

I called customer service a few months back and no matter how I tried to explain it they had no clue what I was talking about, then eventually level 2 said "there is no way to change the voice codec"Tom B wrote:done
I'm accustomed to the sound of G.711, and find automated systems are easier to navigate using it.
Could you set G.711 for my account as well?
Re: Any way to make *98 permanent???
Done, but be aware that the telo sends DTMF as text so the audio codec used makes no difference.
Re: Any way to make *98 permanent???
Thank you. I noticed the difference right away, before I even checked in on this thread! Not that the voice quality is bad with the standard codec, (it's actually quite good, I just don't like the fact that the ringback tone and other background nuances sound like a cellphone with it) which btw what is the default codec and is it proprietary?Tom B wrote:Done, but be aware that the telo sends DTMF as text so the audio codec used makes no difference.
Re: Any way to make *98 permanent???
When one Ooma Telo is locked into G.711, if you call another number that's also using a Telo, does that force that Telo to use G.711 for that call as well? or does it just continue using the default codec?
Re: Any way to make *98 permanent???
The G.711 lock is ignored if the endpoint supports G.722, so telo-2-telo will also be G.722.
Re: Any way to make *98 permanent???
Does that apply if neither Telo is using Ooma handsets?Tom B wrote:The G.711 lock is ignored if the endpoint supports G.722, so telo-2-telo will also be G.722.
