Windows Phone / Windows Universal App

Post by tomcahill » Sat Jan 24, 2015 9:32 am

Windows Phone is the 3rd largest mobile phone OS.
With Universal Apps you could easily create an app that would work on Windows Phone, Windows OS, and Xbox.
Windows Phone users are loyal and reward companies that create official apps.

Above are just some of the reasons that making a Windows Phone Ooma app would be a smart move.

Please consider it.

**Sorry for the double post, I just realized there was a home and office section. Although, technically this applies to both :)

I must echo my request for Windows Phone support. Windows App would be nice but at a minimum please support with browser on the Windows Phone. We can't play the audio from voicemails.

I'm a new customer and sadly had I done more due diligence I wouldn't have signed up as a customer knowing this limitation.

I will not be recommending Ooma until this is resolved.

Sorry.

Yes Windows phone is in third place but its market share is only 2.7%, down from 3.3% at the end of 2013.

I would also like to see work on the windows phone app restarted. Ignoring the Windows Phone users as potential customers makes no sense, The Beta app was one consideration in my trial of OOMA , if it is dropped I will have to look to the competition.

I'm also a little concerned. I can download a MyOOMA app onto my new Windows 8.1 Lumia phone but it doesn't have any means of making or receiving a call from what I can see.

Has the Beta phone app been terminated?

Is there any plans for a windows phone app?

Looks like Windows phone app has been terminated.

After more than 3 years with ooma, I will be going to vonage by the end of this year if there is not new app available by then. At least we have apps there that would allow to make calls through extensions

The Microsoft Zune music players were a great alternative to the iPod. The sound quality was better. Unfortunately, they never gained traction and Microsoft gave up on the platform.

Windows Phone has gotten good reviews, but saw a significant drop in market share last quarter. I understand if Ooma does not want to continue to support the platform. Maybe the release of Windows 10 will give a boost to it. If not, Microsoft may eventually give up on it as well.

75+ million Windows 10 users. Write a Win10 universal app now, and it will be 95% ready when phones get Windows 10. Simple math here.
