Notification when Telo is offline

Post by ttravlos » Mon Jul 22, 2019 9:24 am

I see that this has been discussed before, but don't see that Ooma has addressed the issue.

I'd like to get an alert when our Telo goes offline, which seems to be happening more often lately. The only way I find out that a reboot is necessary is when calls are forwarded to my mobile.

Anybody have a solution for this?

Anybody have a sense for how often their telo goes offline unnoticed?

Care to elaborate? I don't see anything in the description of "smart security" that indicates an alert if the telo is offline.

Anyway, I already have a security system.

Seems like a pretty reasonable thing to ask - I'm pretty sure the ooma infrastructure keeps track of when telos aren't reachable, how else would it know to forward...

No elaboration? Not very helpful then.

Cheers

Not sure why there are so many short answers on these forums. If you download the Ooma Home Security app and log in with your account info, it will notify you if the Telo loses connection. You don't need any sensors or to pay for any service as this is just a normal feature of the app. https://my.ooma.com/products/hm_mobile_app

energyx or anyone: Can you clarify even more on how to get notification if Telo ofline?
I have Omma Basic and due to earlier post I installed the Home Security app on iphone and
entered my email, cell number etc if not already shown.
I set the "Telo loses connection with Home Security" notification.
I have no sensors and just trying to get notification if Telo not online.

With app still signed in, I pulled power on Telo but never received any kind of notification
that Telo offline.

Thank you in advance for any help.

It takes up to half an hour for the server to determine that the Telo disappeared if there is no ongoing activity.

Thanks Murphy.
When I did my initial test on August 26th of getting notification when Telo going offline
I did not wait long enough and I gave up and restored power to Telo.
Today I waited and in my single test it took 12 minutes to get notification that offline.
I then plugged Telo in and when came back online I got notification that reconnected.

I am happy as it serves my purpose but that long delay is an issue for some and mentioned by
in Home Security posts in Ooma forum.

Now that you have the home security app installed you may consider buying a sensor. If my memory serves me correctly you get to install one sensor for free.
