I can't call a toll-free number

Post by bluechalk » Tue Aug 18, 2009 7:45 am

When I try calling the Walgreens toll-free number, 1-866-264-2910 from ooma, I either get busy or a dead line. The number works fine from my landline phone. I called customer support and they said that ooma does not support calls to toll-free numbers, but they are "working on it."

I don't see how I can use ooma as my only phone line if I can't call these numbers. I'll be returning my ooma before the 30-day trial is up if this can't be resolved.

I didn't realize that myself until I tried it out.

I guess they figure that you don't need to dial a toll free number with free long distance already built in.

Interesting...

maybe others will chime in.

Now that's weird ... I have been using toll free numbers (I have my call logs to prove it) until I saw this post and tried again and sure enough they don't seem to work now. This must be a temporary outage.

Yeah, same here. I call unemployment every week and today it doesn't work. As the number connects, if you'll notice, the hub line lights disconnect before the call connects.

I am sure it will get fixed fairly soon. I don't want to recount the number of times I had problems with AT&T. Anyway, if you don't like ooma, don't use it. For me it works great :)

Not trying to be flippant, but I guess that is another good reason to keep a plain/simple POTS as a backup...

Glad I did.

The number I call every week 888 does not work however
Ooma customer support 888 does!
hmmm....

Yes ooma saves me enough money not to be a big deal. I'm sure this is just a glitch. I'll just have to find a local number, although, in this case I don't think there is one.

I just called a 1-800 number for Citibank Sunday and it worked fine.

Strange

Try today. The last time I used my 888 number was yesterday and it worked. Today nada.

Same here... And you're right Wayne, the scout lights go out as soon as the busy signal starts.
