International Calls and call quality

Post by aviatorden » Sun Jan 04, 2009 12:59 pm

My wife called her sister in the UK over the holiday. She could hear her sister, but her sister couldn't hear her. After making three attempts we gave up picked up our Vonage phone and connected with no problems. We have made calls to the UK before with Ooma and it worked with no problems.

Also the second line feature didn't work on two incoming calls, this feature has also worked in the past. When I was on the phone connect to the Ooma Hub, a second call came in and the other phone connected to the scout never rang.

There are other posts about this in the forum. Ooma international calls have serious problems. I've experienced this issue many times with different countries. I don't think it is a priority of ooma support unfortunately. So I doubt it's going to be resolved anytime soon.

However, I purchased an ooma and installed it overseas. Then everything works perfectly. I recommend you to try this if you could.

My wife calls Peru quite often and we have had mixed results with ooma international calling. The first two times she tried she got the same results you did, she could hear them, they could not hear her. The third time was the charm it seems, as after initial call problems during the first few seconds everything started working well and she spoke for 80 minutes without a hitch. I have read somewhere that despite oomas appallingly tragic customer service problems, they are working to improve international calling.
