someone posted a message to that effect with the new telos - 11.95 per year after the first year written on the box

i have not heard anything about this fee being retroactive

before i signed up with ooma i was assured by their CSR that there were no taxes, fees forever for basic service

There is no such a thing as a FREE LUNCH!
We have to be realistic.
If ooma is expected in the future to pay certain taxes/fees imposed by govt./agencies, it is only logical to make everybody pay its share. - The alternative is: ooma out of business ,and we will be left out in the cold , if we expect them to pay for unforeseen taxes/fees which are out of their control!

I think the CSR meant NO FEES... I doubt he meant No Taxes... or simply he didn't know and he acted as if he knew... Anyway anything you hear from a CSR is not the gospel, and further more is NOT BINDING!
