Way to Go OOMA! Port took 2 1/2+ MONTHS.

Post by cmlyon » Thu Dec 10, 2009 3:08 pm

Just wanted to give people feedback on how "quick" their number porting was. I've ported a number before with another carrier (Vonage) and they we're much quicker, though I wouldn't recommend Vonage. Just letting everyone know it's not the 30 days they claim. Cost me an extra 2 billing cycles with my last carrier.

Thanks!

My port took 12 days and I was porting over from Vonage. I guess everyone mileage may vary based upon where you're porting from.

I was porting from Vonage too. Don't know what my Ooma reps were doing.

I ported from Vonage a few months ago - took less than 3 weeks. :D

My port from AT&T took about 11 or 12 days. I think Ooma is at the mercy of whoever currently has control of your number.

That is my understanding of how it works as well. It's not ooma's fault if your old carrier drags their feet in giving up the DID.

I got an order process notification from Cox 2 days after I put in my order with Ooma

They gave me a completition estimate for Jan 4th, about 30 days. from time of order.

5 weeks here. You have to keep on Ooma about this. My carrier (AT & T) kept telling me that they hadn't received a porting request from anyone. After numerous calls to Ooma, I finally convinced them to resend the request. Shortly after that, my porting request was completed.
