Can't you have asterisk transcode out-of-band DTMF to in-band on the Hub device? It would then become in-line audio, and that is all the analog devices plugged into the line port understand anyway.

Does this mean that I can not use my current answering machine behing OOMA (and disable all OOMA supplied voice mail functions)? Currently I have a 2 line system, and it looked promising to use 1 hub + 1 scout to create the two internal lines, and still use the integrated answering machine I have. That depends on using remote DTMF tones to control it, however.

How is it that DTMF is blocked, but audio (including, I assume, singing) is not?

I think the Telo does support DTMF , which is why they probably feel justified taking away voicemail ( you can hook up your own machine)

The Hub does not support DTMF due to a contractual provision concerning use of proprietary components

They detect an incoming DTMF tone and turn off the audio path for the duration of the tone.
This is apparently a permanent restriction on the hub / scout product.

Thank you for the answer. Not using our internal voicemail isn't a killer, but it would have been inconvenient to learn it after the fact.

It has been stated that the restriction will be removed by a future software update to the Telo.

Does anyone know when this software update will be released? It is still blocking inbound DTMF Tones.

Ditto.

At least throw out an ETA. Say 6 mo, so that way we can interpret it as 18 mo. Or tell us 2 yrs, then we can interpret that as never.
