Intermittent Incoming Call Dropping...

Post by jholland75 » Sun Feb 28, 2010 10:14 pm

I've been fully up and running on my Ooma Telo after my number port on Wednesday this week. Since then about 1 in every 10 incoming calls is dropped. It will ring once at my house then goes dead. The caller hears two rings then nothing. It's random and has happened from different callers. There has been no significant network traffic on my home network during these times, The Telo is not worked into my home jacks, it's just hooked up to a splitter to run off to the fax/desk phone and to the portable phone base. The Telo is wired after my router on it's own.

Your input would be great.

Thanks, Jason

What type of internet connection do you have?

Go to this site to run a speed test on your connection:
http://whichvoip.com/voip/speed_test/ppspeed.html

Then post the results from the Advanced tab so we can see your internet connection.

Thanks.

That all looks good to me.

So you've got DSL Modem -> Router -> Telo -> Phone port split to two phones/fax, correct.

And you never get a dropped OUTGOING call ... just Incoming?

Exactly right. Never outgoing and never a connected incoming. The dropped calls only happen when an incoming call is ringing and it's always happened when it's on the second ring.

Do you know if those callers had restricted/anonymous caller id? I see another issue in the forum that reported this a month or so ago.

Also, try power cycling your Telo ... making sure to leave it unplugged for a minute or so.

It's been my wife each time. A couple of times from her cell and a couple from work. Her work number is restricted but the cell is not. I'll cycle it now.

While you're waiting ... a couple things I forgot to ask ... did you port your number over? Or did you integrate your landline?

Oh, by the way... While I have you replying... Is there a way to turn down the ooma Telo audio output to a standard phone. All my cordless and the one corded handset seem like the earpiece volume is too high. I have to turn them all the way down and it's still a little loud.

Thanks, Jason

Initially I set up a new number and played with it for a while. Then I ported my landline number. We never got any incoming calls on the temp number.

The temp number still shows up in my account... Do I get to keep that number? Will I be charged for having it?
