Issue with setup.ooma.com

Post by GatorNutz » Wed Mar 25, 2009 5:12 pm

Sorry, for the basic question...I'm a newbie.

I searched but didn't find anything, so here it is...

For some reason I am unable to access the ooma setup. I keep getting the following screen:

I have tried the following, all with the same result:

modem > ooma > router > computer
- using setup.ooma.com

modem > router > ooma > computer (using the ooma HOME port)
- using setup.ooma.com

Any thoughts?

Ah...so will this only work without the router? modem > ooma > computer (no router)?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I guess you are using Windows 7. It seems ooma's setup page is not compatible with Windows 7.

Try Windows XP or Vista.

No, it works with a router.
I have mine Modem>Router>Ooma And plug the computer in to the home port of Ooma just to get to it's setup page, but I don't normally have computers behind (plugged in to Ooma.)
I just prefer it this way, but I'm prepared to use the router's QoS if necessary (so far it hasn't been because I have very high bandwidth.)

Try using another browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome. It may just be Internet Explorer 8 not handling the page load properly?

There's more to it than bandwith and QoS is important in providing a steady stream of data. Without it, you could lose voice quality or dropped calls, stuttering etc.

Strange. I'm using Vista and tried it with Firefox, Chrome (that's the screenshot above), and IE.

My setup:
Cable Modem
--- (hardwired) Linksys WRT610N (servicing wireless N only)
------ (hardwired) ooma Hub
------ (hardwired) HP MediaSmart EX487 (media server)
------ (wireless N) WGA600N (wireless N) for DirecTV HR21
------ (wireless N) WGA600N (wireless N) for PS3
------ (hardwired) WRT54GX2 (servicing wireless G only as WAP)
--------- (wireless G) Laptops

I am using the QoS on the WRT610N.

Could my Hub be hosed?

Back to my response I wasnt clear on if you tried this:

Did you try attaching a pc or laptop (set to dhcp) to the home port of the ooma hub and typing in http://172.27.35.1 ?
I use Windows 7 beta and IE8 and it works fine.

I had this problem when the browser I was using was configured to use a proxy server, I had to tell it to bypass the proxy for http://setup.ooma.com.

As far as I can tell, this is a bug in the Ooma software.

I did just that. The Hub (Modem port) was plugged directly into my router, and my Vista laptop (DHCP enabled) was plugged directly into the Home port of the Hub. No proxy.

It's strange that I get the left and top frames, but not the content.

Thoughts? Thanks for all the help.
