Not true in two places that I've lived or live in - Madison, WI (i.e. Dane County, WI) and Metairie, LA (Jefferson Parish, LA).
Maybe that's in certain places where people call 911 when they didn't get what they ordered from McD's

Very simple: use a chinese phone system!
You may be thrown in jail for a long, long time for evading chinese taxes on telecommunications... it is a matter of time before you get caught!

They probably care more about using VPN to avoid the Great (fire)Wall of China than avoiding the taxes :)

It ain't too bad over there. As long as you don't mess with politics, religion, pornography on the net, you are left alone. Even if you discuss these openly in a forum such as this one, they still leave you alone. It is when you try to mobilize the masses, then you get in trouble.

Going back to the original topic...

The only way you avoid paying tax is through getting a ooma Core and activating that.

Ah, but when you use VPN and encryption to mask your conversation, how would the state know if you are mobilizing the masses or just talking about sports?

Regarding leaving you alone as long as you don't mobilize the masses...

Yeah, they won't know so people talk all they want, just don't do anything about it. ;)

This Comp Sci professor should have just stuck with some language user group vs what he did. 20 years ago, he could have been executed.

I just read you responses - I have a Telo. Are you guys saying there's no way around the e911 taxes unless I buy and old model core?

I just don't it's fair to force me to pay the e911 tax when i don't live in the country and would be useless to me.
