Hava player setup

Post by i24u » Wed Nov 10, 2010 9:51 pm

I currently have my ooma setup ahead of my router. Cable modem-ooma-router. I used to have packet8 setup behind the router. I have an hava player (aka sling box) and when i view my dvr remotely my video is choppy. I didn't have much of a problem before. Would I be better off putting ooma behind the router or will that not make a difference. Is there a setting on the ooma I could change.

Try the optimal setup: viewtopic.php?t=9536#p66155

And see if that helps.

Well I put my ooma behind the router and everything is fine now. Modem-Router-Ooma. My video was choppy and unwatchable. Now it is fine again. Bottom line is if you have a Hava player or sling box you might want to put Ooma behind the router not in front. I have only tried one phone call and it sounded fine.

I am curious as to why though.

Not sure. Maybe someone out there can explain or have a sling box/hava that works fine with ooma ahead of router. Maybe it has something to do with the router itself? No clue.

If you have time, it'd be nice if you tried ooma between modem and router again with build in mac address and proper upstream Qos to see if the issue you experienced goes away without having to put ooma after router.
