I had Verizon and I didn't really have to fire them. Once I ported my telephone number, they just sent me a refund check and quietly "walked out my door" so to speak. I didn't have to contact them to cancel my account.

Same thing for me, I ported my number from Verizon and all is good. I still use them for FIOS ISP and today I got a call from Verizon service saying "They need to come over and check my wiring for proper grounding"

I find this odd, since all my phones are now connected to ooma after the demarc and the wiring from the pole to the house is FIOS - FIBER OPTIC, no copper at all - so what "grounding" do they need to check? the FIOS is plugged into a grounded outlet, everything else is off their circuit.

I can't wait to see what they want to do - will let everyone know afterwards!
