Contacts via Portal Seems to hang and/or is very slow

I've noticed recently that the Contacts on the portal is very slow or hangs. I get a message from IE, asking do I "Stop running this script?"

I can't seem to to be able to pull up a contact to edit it I do have a large number of contacts.

Ok, was able to stop the runaway display back. Then able to search a contact. But cannot update the contact information. I've used both IE and Firefox. I click on the contact and nothing happens.
