I can not hear other peoples VOICEMAILS

Just made a few phone calls on the new ooma. I am calling people to comfirm their appointments with me. Some people are home and i have no problems. BUT on a few calls, i need to leave msgs on thier machines. I can not hear their out going msgs...i tried calling back on my cell phone and i get the answering machine. WHY cant i hear their voice msgs on their phones? ANyone have this problem before???

Yes, that happens when I call my sons on their cells. They both live in the same town 60 miles away. They have att phones. I don't have that problem with any other numbers. Dialing *99 first works. You might try that.
The recent upgrade didn't help.
