Very Low Sound On Voicemail
I have had the Ooma telo for a week now and I am a little concerned on how low the sound level is for the recordings from the voicemail. I have increased the sound on the Telo box but it has not increased the sound level on the recordings enough to easily hear what has been said. Is there anything else I can do to help this issue? Surely all of the owners here do not have this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Very Low Sound On Voicemail
QCK:
If you press the voicemail button to listen to a voicemail, than listen in on the telephone, how does the volume level compare on the telephone?
If you hear the voicemail message loud and clear on the phone, than maybe you have a defective Ooma Telo.
Not very many, but just a few Ooma Telo speakers have been found to be defective, from reports in this forum.
Another thing to check, is to check for the new Ooma Telo 45073 Firmware update. It, and I believe the previous version of Ooma Telo firmware update, increased the Ooma Telo's speaker volume. An easy way to tell is if you touch any of the buttons on the face of the Ooma Telo, a beep or voice message can be heard when you have Ooma Telo Firmware version 45073. If you don't hear any beeps or messages, than you can go into Ooma setup by connecting a computer to your Ooma Telo Home port and typing in http://172.27.35.1 in your browser's window. If you have a router connected to the Ooma Home port, than your computer to the router, just type in http://172.27.35.1, the Ooma Setup pages open. You will see the currently installed firmware version at the top right side of the window.
If you don't have the latest Ooma Telo firmware update, it is expected to be automatically installed by an Ooma Support "push" by the end of this week.

Re: Very Low Sound On Voicemail
Thanks for the reply thunderbird. The keys on my Telo do not make a beeping sound and on the setup page I see Device Status - Rev: 1.43368 so it seems I do not have the latest firmware update yet. The voicemail sound is much lower on the Telo than my home phone. Hopefully the update will be pushed out soon so I can determine if it fixes this unit or if I need it to be replaced.
Re: Very Low Sound On Voicemail
I setup & configured the Ooma Telo on Sunday 4/10 and experienced the same situation QCK has described on new voicemails. The message volume quality is so low they are not understandable. Interestingly, the introductory/welcome Ooma voicemail comes through loud & clear.
I am not certain the issue is in the Telo box itself because I experience the same condition when retrieving voicemail from a Ooma Telo Handset. The Ooma introductory/welcome voicemail is loud & clear but new voicemails can not be understood. Additionally, listening to the voicemails through www.my.ooma.com results in the same problem but if I max-out the volume on my computer, I can then hear the voicemail message.
Since I have experienced the low sound on other devices, I do not believe the firmware update will resolve the low volume issue on voicemail. Any additional input would be appreciated.

GAM:
You have only three or four days until your firmware is updated. I'd wait until you have the latest Ooma Telo firmware update, which improves voicemail volume. And if after the firmware update, If at that time you hear no improvements, than I'd than call Ooma Customer Service.

Re: Very Low Sound On Voicemail
Thank you for the reply thunderbird. My Telo box is at firmware level Rev: 1.43368. I will check again once the firmware upgrade has been pushed & applied.
Re: Very Low Sound On Voicemail
I installed my Telo yesterday and have the same voicemail volume problem as stated in several posts. Where do I go for the firmware updates? When will the next one be out?

You don't "go" anywhere; you just wait.clgodfrey wrote:I installed my Telo yesterday and have the same voicemail volume problem as stated in several posts. Where do I go for the firmware updates? When will the next one be out?
Ooma issued an update earlier this month. It finds its way to your computer according to a schedule which Ooma has never shared with us; with the current number of Ooma users, it takes roughly a fortnight for an update to hit everyone.

Re: Very Low Sound On Voicemail
Thought I would give an update, I received the firmware update 2 days ago and it did not resolve the low sound issue. Yesterday my phone number was ported and the recording sound level is now acceptable. It would still be nice if it was a little louder but as I said it is ok.
