Multi Ring to multiple cells

Post by forceman » Sun May 08, 2011 1:00 pm

I just got my Ooma Telo and trying to set up multi-ring to my 2 cell phones but find that Ooma only allowed one multi-ring number.
Now, I tried to multi-ring to my Goggle voice which will ring my 2 cells. After setting it up, I have two problems:
1. When I call the phone, my Ooma does not ring, both my cell will ring.
2. When I use my cell to call home, I got into Google voice mail and not able to reach home. I was wonder if I can call Ooma 2nd line and by-pass the nulti-ring?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hmmm, I think you cannot setup your home's main number with Google Voice if you want to be able to call home from your cell which is also setup with GV? You might want to play with the GV settings and see.
System: Ooma Telo
Mbps: 68 Down / 12 Up
PING TIME: 5Ms
Modem>Router>Telo

Not sure what 1. is all about.
As for 2, go into your GV setting, edit the number and set "Direct access to voicemail when calling your Google number from this phone?" to No.

I did try the Google setting and it still goes to voice mail.
Anyone tried calling the second phone? Will it also milti-ring?

Do you have GV call screening off?

Unless you setup your 2nd number on a private device, your main multi-ring/forward function is still applicable.

Yes, I had GV screening off. But either way, it goes to GV mailbox.
Too bad, anyone figured out how to multi ring 2 phones?

forceman: do you use GV for your voicemail on your cell phone or do you use your cell phone carrier for voicemail?

Hi, tomcat,
My voice-mail from GV is going to GV and my cell phone voice mail is going to the cell phone.

Thanks, forceman. I just wanted to rule that possibility out.

Well, I called the customer support, they took all my numbers and did something and reboot my Ooma. Now, it works.
Anyone wants to have more than one multi-ring can set up the GV to forward all calls. Just have to have the customer support to do it for you.
