Faxing no longer works and no real ooma help. :(
I own 3 oomas. 1 Telo and 2 Hubs
Until now I could get faxing to work (not very stable, but I could get a fax out if I had to).
Now I can't send a fax no matter how hard I try.
I'm running an HP 640 FAX
My speedtests are very high (20MbsD and 20MbsU).
I've tried EVERY trick there is. I've tried QoS to zero (and everywhere else), I've turned the TCM on and off, I've tried it all.
Anyone have any ideas? ooma support is rough.

You need to run a test of your network. Speed by itself means nothing. Jitter and packet loss will kill a voip connection.

You tell me the test you want me to perform and I'll be happy to do so.

Yay!
Well the DSL Filter trick I learned about fixed it!!!!
Simple too! Plug the DSL Filter (male end) into the fax machine, plug the wire between "phone" and the female end of the DSL filter and it works. I didn't even use *99 and I'm at 9600. I may try faster, but it isn't myth... it REALLY works!!!
I wish ooma would tell people. But that's another story. LOL.

Re: Faxing no longer works and no real ooma help. :(
It is impossible to place the Ooma Telo and the fax units physically together at the same location. I did not have any Fax problems with Vonage or COX cable. I am still using Cox cable for high speed internet with a new DOC3 cable modem.
My Brothers Fax/printer has both telephone and ethernet capabilities. I transmit through the telephone line. I have slowed the fax to 9600, dialed *99 in conjunction with the "fax mode" and separately. All to no avail. They (Brothers to Computer Modem) connect easily but will not transmit the data. .
My HP Fax/Printer has Bluetooth, Wireless and Ethernet connections as well as a Telephone in/out jack.
Any workaround(s) will be appreciated.

*98 - Use G711 Codec w/o Fax mode (This is the mode that some other VoIP providers use for their FAXing).
*99 - Data/Fax call (Mode that Ooma uses).
This morning, using an Ooma Telo, I was trying to fax to the HP FAX test number 1-888-473-2963.
When I dialed *99 pause 1-888-473-2963, my faxes failed to transmitt every time.
But when I dialed *98 pause 1-888-473-2963, the FAX went through everytime.
Within Five minutes a return fax will come back from the HP FAX test number 1-888-473-2963, to test the return side of your FAX.
Test Ooma Telo FAXing using *98 to send an Ooma Telo FAX and see if it works for you.

*98 gets me a fast busy...before even dialing the rest of the number.Test FAXing using *98 to send a FAX and see if it works for you.
Looks like *98 not OOMA supported.

You have to enter *98 then a pause, sometimes another pause for certain setups. The pause is used to give time for the change to G711 Codec. I have a pause button on my fAX machine, but others use ,,focuspuller wrote:*98 gets me a fast busy...before even dialing the rest of the number.Test FAXing using *98 to send a FAX and see if it works for you.

You have to read your FAX machine's User manual to find out how to add a pause for your setup.

*98 is only supported on a Telo.
