Line 1 to house wiring; line 2 to telo handset?

Post by mud » Tue Jun 21, 2011 11:35 pm

Is there a way to send Line 1 rings to the wired telephones and Line 2 rings to the telo handset?

This is for a large house where one person lives on one side and the other person lives on the other side of the house. Each person wants his own line and does not want the other person's calls to ring on his phone. Voicemail for the wired phone Line 1 could go to a regular answering machine, and the wireless telo handset Line 2 could use Ooma's voicemail unless there's a reasonable way to have them both use Ooma's voicemail.

Another question: What does the "wall" jack on the back of the telo do? I plugged it into the wall, and nothing happened. Plugging the "phone" jack into the wall distributes the Ooma line to the rest of the house.

Thanks for the help.

The "wall jack" on the Telo is used to integrate a regular landline with the Telo. Most of the regulars on the forum consider that to be a bad idea. Ooma now agrees since the latest version of the Telo does not have a wall jack.

If you configure the Telo handset as a personal device and assign the second phone number to the personal device it will only ring when calls come in on phone number 2. Calls to phone number 1 will only ring on the Telo base and any Telo handsets that are not personal devices. The Telo and the personal device handset will each have their own voice mail.

Line 1 and line 2 have no relation to the phone numbers. The first phone call, no matter to which phone number, will use line 1. A second simultaneous phone call will use line 2. Think of them as first come first served pipes to Ooma's server.
