blacklist question

Post by squiggly » Tue Jul 24, 2012 9:56 am

What does the inbound caller hear when we place them on our blacklist? No ringing at all? A message of some sort?
Thanks.

It depends on which of the four options you pick when you enable the blacklist.

You can set the treatment option.

Send directly to voicemail, continuous ring, "blocked" message, "disconnected" message.

Re: blacklist question - dial out software

Post by SylviaCaras » Tue Aug 07, 2012 9:12 am

I'm thinking about what the spammer, robo-dialer software will do with the several black list options. I'm wanting to cause the spammer the most hardship, with the least to myself.

Will continuous ring just keep my number in the queue forever? Is there some cut-off in the dialing software after some number of tries?

Will call blocked merely let the spammer know that that particular number they are using should be discarded? They have lots and lots of numbers from which to call out.

Might robo software automatically remove my number if it receives the disconnect message? Or will the software learn to ignore that message as false.

I get a large number of election-related and charity-related calls, legal, and I'd like them to go away, far away.

I also get regular calls from Rachel, and Cardholder Services ...

What choices have others made? Different for community and personal black list?

Sylvia
